... I don't often let myself be taken by sentimentality where politics are concerned, but I truly do believe that tis city would do better with Lady Vannozza at the helm, and I do not wish to see her sacrificed against her will.

You may want to keep your connection maintained with those we had dinner with. They may let more slip to you, especially if they begin to feel emboldened given their position and aid to Bonaccarso.

So long as she does not take to treating magic users even worse after this incident, she is at least far more capable than her cousin. ( But Wrath realizes that is a problem for after this first one is solved. ) She will be informed as soon as possible. I would feel more accomplished if there was a way to destroy the dark magic the Attaryl have been using which result in the deaths of so many.

I will endeavor to keep them on their toes just enough to keep them coming. I have hinted to them that I have some royal blood myself, and it seems to be of interest to them, although I have avoided answering any too pointed questions.

If there is a way to scourge all of them and the necromancers from the city it might be for the best... or not. They have no other ways to defend themselves against the undead warlords. I fear that if we run out all of the sorcerers, the city might not last two months before it is invaded from the outside this time. And I suspect Lady Vannozza, even hollowed out as she is, knows this at least to be true.

Of course it would be of interest to them. They are clearly quite interested in power by any means they can grab hold of it. ( Which in general is something Wrath understands. Hell itself is built on power grabs from the Wicked within it and the witches and the goddesses alike, but the cost of their move is in innocent lives. ) It was a good idea to be cautious in revealing details.

The Bessis are far more powerful against the undead threat than the Attaryl. I will endeavor to remind her of how much she still needs those who use magic as I deliver the news.

And also a good idea to retain Master Lan's idea as well. Should every other avenue fail, the simplest way of getting rid of the trouble is to get rid of the source.
