[ Mo Ran looks rough, with a few scrapes on his face and his hair disheveled, and he's quieter than usual, staring into the distance for a few moments before he finally talks. He's much more subdued than usual. ]
We don't need to worry about the Chained God anymore. [ Don't ask why. ] He called the black water stuff "a little friend below the depths" and his brother. The water wants a body, and shape, but it can't fight back. I guess that's why it takes the dead bodies, since the dead can't fight back against it, and then the water reanimates them.
[ He trails off, thinking back to his conversation. ] He also said something about someone wishing it free, but didn't offer any names or anything. It probably happened long ago, so it's impossible to say.
Oh, and don't go to the temple of the Chained God. It's dangerous. [ It's been somewhat destroyed. ]

Just tell me where you are, I'm coming to get you.
[ Mo Weiyu is a young man grown and can take care of himself if he needs to, but he's also barely an adult and Xichen is a fullass adult. The responsibility to stay strong isn't Mo Ran's anymore after ... what he's done. ]

I've returned to the Coliseum, staying in my room here. [ It was all he knew, for the moment, even if the arena had been damaged in the earthquake. ]

[ He ends the call after that and promptly rides the sword to the Coliseum, touching down ten or so minutes later in a flurry of layered blue robes. If Mo Ran isn't outside waiting, Xichen knows the way to his room. ]

He greets him with a bow. ] Senior. It is good to see you.

I'm glad you're alright. [ Especially considering what Wangji has told him, having met him first today. ] I trust you can ride the sword as a passenger, at least?
[ He steps onto the blade, further back by the hilt to make room for Mo Ran, and offers him a hand up. ]
I'll keep a hold on you while we're flying, don't worry.

He takes Xichen's hand, stepping on the sword, his footing confident and sure. ] Do you have a residence here?
no subject
I do, but we're not going there. I don't know how safe it is. We're going to take a room at an inn, get you cleaned up and fed somewhere you're able to get some real rest, not in that ... underground pit.
[ He has always disliked the Coliseum. ]
Then, if you want to, you can tell me what happened.

But still, he's young and desperate enough that he subconsciously leans back into his touch. The injuries don't bother him that deeply, but after the temple, he feels shaken. ]
Anything is better than the Coliseum. [ Mo Ran is good at violence. He knows how to fight, and he can throw a fight when he needs to. But it takes a toll. ]
It's a simple story. Not very interesting. [ Though it would have been something he'd write about in a letter to his shizun. Would it be so different to tell it aloud to Xichen? ]

Did they treat you a little better, after I spoke to your ... caretakers?
[ The other story, the one so fresh it has left Mo Ran in mild shock, can wait. Best to distract him for a while. ]
